EUROCHOCOLATE IN PERUGIA

OCTOBER

For almost twenty years the Eurochocolate festival has been drawing gluttons, tourists and the curious to Perugia. During the festival visitors can taste chocolate in all of its imaginable forms – from bars to snacks, cakes and ice creams – in the streets of the Umbrian capital. This festival features the collaboration of major brands in the food world to master chocolatiers of artisan pastry shops. Considerable space is also dedicated to cocoa growing countries of Africa and South America, with fairs and conventions that explain and tell the story of how cocoa is grown and produced.

Perugia’s chocolate fair has a programme that is renewed every year, but that continues certain events that have become a must for the passionate followers of Eurochocolate, such as the famous chocolate sculptures: one metre by one metre blocks of chocolate are shaped in front of curious onlookers by expert sculptors. The sumptuous chips are offered to the public for tasting. Or the public performances conducted by great chefs that reveal the secrets they use to work with chocolate: a spectacle for the palate, but also for the eyes.

Eurochocolate also offers conventions for chocolate professionals, training classes, entertaining performances of theatre and music presentations in addition to competitions, all exclusively on the theme of chocolate. This festival attempts to examine chocolate not only as a food product, but also the economic and cultural aspects of the food of the gods.
